I've photographed babies who attacked the cake like it owed them money, and babies who sat there for a full minute deciding whether frosting was a threat. Both make for genuinely great cake smash photography – the moment is never really about the cake, it's about watching your kid figure something out in real time, on camera, for the first and only time. I plan every session around whichever kind of baby shows up that day, not the other way around.

Pregnancy is a season filled with anticipation, connection, and change. A maternity session gives you the opportunity to slow down and preserve this special time before your baby arrives.

I create timeless, elegant portraits that celebrate motherhood and the connection between you and the people you love most. Every session is thoughtfully planned to feel relaxed, personal, and true to you.

“Playful, Not Chaotic – By Design”

White frosting is deceptively hard to photograph – it reflects so much light that a normal exposure blows it out to a flat white blob, and you lose all the texture that makes the mess actually look good in a photo. I meter for the icing first, light it at an angle instead of head-on, and shoot from a bit of distance so the background falls away and your baby stays the whole story. The result looks effortless – that's the whole idea behind good cake smash photography.

You show up, your baby wears whatever you want ruined, and that's genuinely most of what's required from you for a first birthday session like this. I bring the cake, the theme, the props, and I've already tested how all of it photographs under my studio lights – so nothing on session day is a surprise to me, even if it's a surprise to your baby.

What to Expect

Before Your Session

Most families book their cake smash session a few weeks ahead of their baby's first birthday, so we can plan the theme together.

During Your Session

Your baby leads the pace – we allow plenty of time for hesitation, exploration, and the inevitable mess, without rushing any of it.

Image Selection

After your session, you'll receive a beautifully edited gallery to choose your favorite images from.

Your Memories

Your final cake smash photographs are edited in my signature timeless style – a first-birthday keepsake you'll treasure for years.

A few weeks ahead is plenty, though earlier gives us more room to plan a theme. If you want photos ready for invitations, aim for a month out.

In my Richboro studio only – I've found that's what actually keeps the lighting and cleanup working in your favor.

Then we wait. I've had babies take a full two minutes to commit, and it's usually worth every second – that hesitation is often the best part of the gallery.

Just your baby and something clean to change into after. I've got the rest – cake, theme, props, all tested under my own lights beforehand.

Thirty minutes for the Light package, about an hour if you add family photos with the Standard package.

Yes, and we nail down exactly what that looks like together before your session date.

With the Standard package, yes – just mention it when you reach out so I can build in enough time.
